Spare the “ing”

As a non-native, I’m always on the hunt for tricks to better my writing. This piece by James Buckhouse is one of the best pieces of advice I’ve read to date:

Improve your text instantly with this simple rule: Eliminate “to be” and all forms of ing.Your sentences will gain purpose and strength as you articulate exactly who does what.

The task requires forethought, but the rewards perpetually delight.
